Description

This is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from roughly-dressed limestone rubble with a gabled roof covered in stone slate, although the rear section has 20th-century tiles. Brick stacks are visible at the ends of the building. The house was originally planned with two rooms. It has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. The ground floor features a flat stone arch over the 20th-century front door, a 20th-century window to the right, and early 19th-century three-light casement windows, each with iron opening lights. A 20th-century dormer window has been added to the roof. A rear outshut, built of similar materials, contains a tall stack. Inside, the house has a stop-chamfered beam and an old winder staircase adjoining a blocked fireplace on the right-hand side. The roof structure consists of three bays with butt purlins. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the character of the surrounding area.
