Description
This outbuilding, located approximately 5 meters north-northwest of Caswell House and Caswell Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century. Originally serving as a brewhouse, stable, cartshed, and woolstore or granary, it is now used as a store and garage. The structure is built from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with a stone ashlar ridge stack that was finished in late 19th century brick.
The building is one storey with a loft. The front facade includes a flat stone arch above a late 19th or early 20th century two-light casement window with glazing bars, timber lintels over two cartshed entries, and stone steps leading to the granary door. There is a timber lintel above a plank loft door on the right gable end, along with a doorway to the left.
Inside, the former brewhouse on the left has a chamfered beam with a roll stop, a large open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and a copper on a stand. The roof features a 5-bay collar-truss design with butt purlins.
