Description

This is a farmhouse, later converted into a house, dating to 1655, with subsequent additions and alterations. It is constructed from uncoursed limestone rubble with alternating angle quoins. The main range has a stone slate roof, while a lower addition has slates replacing what was originally thatch. The house is two storeys and has an attic. It originally comprised three bays, and retains two-light mullion windows to the first floor, as well as prominent gabled full dormers to the left and right. The ground floor has three-light mullion windows, all with dripstones. A datestone inscribed "H/RK/1655" is visible on the left gable, and a window features carved lozenge and diamond-shaped decoration. The central entrance has been infilled. Integral end stacks have paired and rebated shafts rebuilt in the late 20th century. An addition to the right has a three-light mullion window to the ground floor, and a two-light mullion window directly above, both with dripstones. An infilled doorway sits at the junction of the main range and the addition on the far left. Another integral end stack was rebuilt in the late 20th century. A 20th-century addition to the rear includes a six-panel door with glazed top panels and oval-shaped discs applied to the bottom, which appear to have been relocated from the front. The interior was not inspected during a resurvey in May 1987, but it is thought likely to be of interest despite alterations carried out around 1960.
