Description

Renshaw Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1705, with 19th-century alterations and an extension. The earlier part of the building features coursed limestone rubble, while the extension is made of random rubble. Gritstone dressings are used on the earlier range, and yellow sandstone is found elsewhere. The roof is covered with graduated stone slates.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two bays, with the right bay projecting as a large gabled wing. The building has quoins and a glazed door to the right of the first bay, set in a cyma-moulded quoined surround. The moulding steps up over the lintel and is topped with a square plaque that has raised lettering stating "1705." To the left of the entrance, there is a square 20th-century window in a reused chamfered stone surround, and a stepped three-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a hoodmould above it.

The projecting wing features two large rectangular windows with top-hinged frames in plain surrounds on each floor, along with a small blocked square window in the centre of the first floor. There is an ashlar stack on the right gable and a large square stack at the junction of the main range and the projecting wing. On the left return, there are two rectangular chamfered windows on the ground floor. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
