Description

This is a mid-18th century house located on Akeman Street. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with a gabled stone slate roof and a brick end stack. The house originally comprised two units and features a two-story main block with an attic, presenting a two-window front. A 20th-century stone porch now shelters the entrance, with a 20th-century door. The windows are 20th-century casements set beneath timber lintels. A mid-19th century gabled roof dormer illuminates the attic space. A rear range, originally built in the mid-18th century, was remodelled in the 20th century. Inside, the house retains stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A winder staircase rises from the first floor to the attic, and the ground floor is paved with stone flags. The roof structure includes butt purlins.
