Description

Blandford Cottage is a house with two ranges, located on the south side of Park Road. The block on the right has origins dating back to the late 16th century and features a datestone reading 8/WE/1798. The early 19th century range is on the left. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and has gabled stone slate roofs, with a 20th-century end stack on the right and a brick ridge stack on the left. The late 16th century section has a one-unit plan, while the 19th century section has a two-unit plan. The right block is two storeys high with an attic and includes a one-bay range that has flat stone arches over 20th-century casements and over 19th-century plank doors at the front and left gable end. Inside, there is a late 16th century hollow-moulded beam and flat joists with stepped stops, as well as a four-centred arched doorway leading to stone and timber winder stairs that rise to the attic.
