Description
36 and 38 West Street are 18th-century houses constructed of squared and coursed rubblestone, featuring some stone dressings. They have a steeply pitched gabled roof covered with machine tiles and end brick stacks, with the northern stack having a stone base. The buildings are three storeys high with an attic and have a three-window range. There are two segmental-headed dormers in the roof, each with 2-pane casements. The upper floor has 12-pane sash windows beneath a continuous wooden lintel. The first floor features tripartite 12-pane sashes flanking a central 12-pane sash, all under wooden lintels. On the ground floor, each house has a 16-pane sash window beneath a cambered head and a panelled part-glazed 19th-century door. In the center, there is a plank door that leads to a passageway.
