Description
Rowell's House is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It was rebuilt in the early 19th century, originating from an early 17th-century farmhouse. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a gabled stone-tiled roof with two end moulded stone stacks. It is three stories tall and has a three-window range facing the road, complete with a first-floor band and a moulded cornice. The windows are four-pane sashes, and there is a raised fielded six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight. On the rear west front, there are two and five-light chamfered mullion windows. Inside, the entrance hall boasts a decorative paterae cornice, panelled doors with panelled reveals, and additional decorative cornices in other rooms. There is also a good early 19th-century staircase featuring cast iron balusters.
