Description
No. 43 on West Street in Chipping Norton is possibly a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates back to the 17th century and is constructed of coursed rubblestone with dressed stone quoins. The building features a gabled roof covered with machine tiles and has three ridge stacks made of 20th-century brick.
The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range facing the road, consisting of two sections; the northern bay is an addition from the same period. The upper windows are designed with three-light chamfered mullions. On the ground floor, there are two and three-light chamfered mullion windows, along with one blocked window. The central entrance door of the original house has six panels and is topped by a patterned 20th-century fanlight. Above the door, there is a blocked one-light window and a fire insurance plaque numbered 32024. The north side wall features a two-light mullioned window, and there is a 19th-century two-storey wing that projects to the northwest.
