Description

Gigley Farm and its attached farm buildings date back to around 1800. The farmhouse is built from squared and coursed limestone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a gabled stone slate roof. It has stone end stacks, with the left stack finished in brick. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. The front entrance consists of a mid to late 19th-century two-panelled door with an overlight. The windows are 8-pane sashes with keyed stone architraves, and there are shorter sashes in the attic. At the rear, a two-storey wing made of similar materials connects to a large outshut, which has a 20th-century Welsh slate roof and a large stone end stack finished in brick, serving the kitchen. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to contain 19th-century panelled doors and a straight-flight staircase with stick balusters.

Attached to the left of the farmhouse are farm buildings also dating from around 1800. These include a four-bay barn constructed from limestone rubble, featuring a gabled stone slate roof and a hipped porch flanked by outshuts at the rear. Inside, the barn has a butt purlin roof and a doorway in the left gable leading to the foldyard. There are also shelter sheds to the left and at right angles to the front left, which have roofs made of Welsh slate and asbestos sheets. Additionally, there is a two-storey stable with a hay loft at the rear, which has a stone slate roof and a gabled loft door on the right. The stable also features butt-purlin roofs inside.
