Description

The bridge over the River Windrush, located in Burford, dates back to the 15th century but underwent significant remodeling in 1791 and was restored in the 20th century. It was also widened either in 1791 or during the 20th century. The structure is built of rubble with an ashlar parapet and has a somewhat irregular plan. It features four segmental arches, three of which have a chamfered inner order, along with pointed break-waters and a string course. The bridge has a four-foot parapet with weathered coping. There are short sections of causeway to the north and south, constructed of rubble with chamfered capping, and on the east side, the causeway ramps up to form a garden wall for Mouseham.
