Description
The bridge over the River Windrush is located on the boundary between the parishes of Barrington and Windrush. It likely represents the remains of a bridge built around 1740, which was part of the landscaping of the park by the Earl and Countess Talbot. The bridge was rebuilt in the 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features two low rusticated arches with keystones. There is a central pier with a diagonally set breakwater. Originally, there was stone balustrading present in 1895, but this has since been removed. A photograph from around 1895 is available in the National Monuments Record, and an engraving can be found in S. Rudder's "A New History of Gloucestershire," published in 1779.
