Description
This double barn, located about 10 yards south of Shepherd's Cottage, dates from around 1800 but incorporates earlier materials, with one truss dated 1740. It was restored around 1900. The barn is constructed of rubble and features a red clay tile roof. It has two projecting gabled entries on the west side, with a catslide section in between. The structure consists of 5:3 bays and has tie beam and collar roof structures with two rows of purlins, which have been repaired. Most of the purlins are butt-purlins, with some being through purlins. The three-bay section has tie beams visible on the outer face of the walls, which is typically an early 18th-century feature in this area. Additionally, there are triangular vents in the gables.
