Description
The Old Shop and attached railings is a house that later became a shop, dating from the 18th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features random rubble on the ground floor and coursed squared rubble above, with timber lintels and a slate roof. It was probably originally one storey but was later raised to three storeys above a cellar. The facade has a two-window range, with half-doors located to the left of center and a former shop window with glazing bars to the left, all under a chamfered lintel. The ground and first-floor windows have iron-framed casements with rectangular leaded lights, while a small second-floor window under the eaves has casements with glazing bars. There is a central ridge chimney and a gable-end stack to the left. To the left, there is a two-storey 19th-century extension on the corner site, which has one iron-framed casement with leaded lights. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the left of the door is a small enclosure of spear-headed railings with urn finials on the standards.
