Description
No. 15 Market Square is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with stuccoed front and side walls, and it features a gabled stone slate roof with a left end stack made of stone finished in brick. The layout consists of a two-unit plan, and the building has two storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range.
The upper floor has six-pane sash windows above a 20th-century shop front, and there is a mid-19th-century round-arched doorway leading to a six-panelled door. The eaves cornice is decorated with wood modillions, and there are two gabled roof dormers that contain 20th-century three-light casements. At the rear, there is a short two-storey range from the 18th century and a longer range from the 20th century. Inside, the building features cased beams and is noted for having an old roof.
