Description

HEYTHROP HEYTHROP PARK SP32NE 5/89 Walled garden approx. 500m SE of National Westminster Bank Staff College

GV II

Walled garden. C18. Coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and brick in Flemish bond with flared headers. Rectangular garden, approximately 120 metres by 80 metres, has brick-lined walls approximately 3 metres high, each with a central gateway except for the north-east side which has the depressed-arched opening to a semi-circular shelter. Stone extensions to the walls project at the eastern and western angles for approximately 25 metres, ramping downwards. Wilderness Cottages, which interrupt the north-west wall, are not of special architectural interest. (Heythrop Park is included at Grade II* in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens)
