Description

The walled garden, located approximately 500 meters southeast of the National Westminster Bank Staff College, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and features brick in Flemish bond with flared headers. The rectangular garden measures about 120 meters by 80 meters and is enclosed by brick-lined walls that stand approximately 3 meters high. Each wall has a central gateway, except for the northeast side, which includes a depressed-arched opening leading to a semi-circular shelter. Additionally, stone extensions project from the walls at the eastern and western angles for about 25 meters, sloping downwards. The Wilderness Cottages, which interrupt the northwest wall, are not considered to have special architectural interest. Heythrop Park, where the garden is situated, is recognized at Grade II* in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens.
