Description

Crown Cottage is a house, originally five cottages, dating from the 16th century, with alterations in the 17th and 19th centuries. It is built of rubble with a Cotswold stone roof. The house originally comprised two cells, featuring a cross passage and a 17th-century kitchen wing to the rear, with a later extension. The house is two storeys high and has three windows. These windows are sashes with vertical glazing bars, set beneath wooden lintels on the ground floor. There are two front doors, one in the centre and one to the right, with a window occupying the space of a former blocked doorway on the left-hand side. Until its conversion in the early 1970s, the building served as a fine example of cottage development, with two cottages added to the kitchen wing, followed by the kitchen itself, and finally the house split into separate units.
