Description
Wheelgate House is a house that underwent early 19th-century remodelling of an earlier building and was refurbished in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with a plain tile roof from the 20th century and has brick chimney shafts at the gable ends. The house was raised from two to three storeys in the early 19th century and features two bays. The 20th-century windows include three-light leaded casements, with the lower windows having transoms. There is a 20th-century four-light leaded window on the ground floor to the right, with a 20th-century door adjacent to the left. The ground floor has flat stone arches, while the second floor has wooden lintels. The left gable end has an external stack and shows traces of former roof pitches. A steep roof pitch is retained at the rear, which also includes a lower rear wing. The building is included for its group value.
