Description

This is a pair of chest tombs located in the churchyard of St. Peter, positioned 7 meters south of the chancel. One tomb is dedicated to James Kirby, who died in 1793, and M. Kirby, who died in 1782. The other tomb commemorates Elizabeth Godwin, who died in 1818, her husband John, who died in 1801, and their son John, who died in 1810. Both tombs are made of limestone and feature moulded bases, coved and moulded cornice lids, and moulded tops. The inscription panels are moulded and flanked by fluted pilasters.
