Description
The shelter shed and former cartshed, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, are constructed from coursed squared marlstone and feature Stonesfield-slate roofs. The west side of the foldyard is defined by a hipped-roofed, four-bay open shelter, which leads to a pavilion-like cartshed at the end. This cartshed has a blocked two-bay open front facing south, flanked by stepped ashlar buttresses. The interiors were not inspected. Attached to the structure are foldyard walls that run north to a secondary gate and across the south side of the yard to the main gate, both sections topped with two-course triangular copings. These buildings are a significant part of the farm landscape developed by J.C. Loudon around 1810.
