Description

This memorial, located approximately 190 meters northeast of Harcourt House, was built in the late 18th century for George Simon Harcourt. It is made of limestone and designed in the Greek Revival style. The memorial features a pedimented casket adorned with acroteria and claw feet, which stands on a tall pedestal with a moulded plinth and entablature. It commemorates William Mason, the poet-gardener known for his contributions to the gardens at Nuneham Courtenay. The memorial was relocated from the park at Nuneham Courtenay after the Harcourts returned to Harcourt House in 1948.
