Description
Bedwell's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to 1677, as indicated by a datestone on the rear, although it was refronted around 1850. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with the front made of mid-19th century squared and coursed limestone rubble. It features a gabled stone slate roof, a left end stack, and a 17th-century lateral stack on the right, both finished in brick, along with a stone ashlar ridge stack. The farmhouse has a two-unit plan with a cross wing to the right and stands two storeys tall, featuring a four-window range.
On the left side, there is a central half-glazed door set within a chamfered stone architrave, accompanied by a timber porch. To the left of the door is a canted bay window with sashes, while above the door is a one-light window. To the right, there are two-light stone-mullioned windows with sashes. The gable end of the cross wing also has similar windows. At the rear, the gable features a 17th-century two-light ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned window. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
