GV II

Vicarage, now house and office. Late C16/early C17; refronted and extended to rear in late C17. Uncoursed limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roof; rendered right end external stack, and C19 stack to left. L-plan with rear right wing. 2 storeys; 3-window range. Brick segmental arch over C19 plank door with gabled bracketed hood. Similar arches over late C17 cross windows with leaded-lights and blocked window over door. Timber lintels over 2- and 3-light leaded-light windows flanking blocked doorway with C20 casement. Rear wing of similar materials and 2-storey, 3-window range; raised brick segmental-arched surrounds to C20 windows and 3 late C17 cross windows with leaded-lights. Interior: Estate Office has late C16 moulded beams and moulded stone fireplaces; partial inspection only. No.17 boxed beams to front and hollow-chamfered quartered beams to rear. An important early meeting place for John and Charles Wesley during the incumbency of John Gambold - who later became a Moravian bishop. (A.
