Description

This is a range of seven cottages, originally dating from the late 17th century and early 18th century, situated on the north side of Longcot Road. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with brick dressings, and have a thatched roof, with a half-hipped gable at each end. Brick chimney stacks are present. Each cottage is of one storey with an attic, though No. 13 at the east end is slightly different. Cottages 1 to 11 each have two bays, while No. 13 has three. They feature eyebrow dormers with six-pane, two-light casement windows, and ground floor windows with three lights under cambered heads, some with glazing bars and others plain. Wooden porches shelter plank doors. No. 13 is currently undergoing renovation, and is of one storey and attic with three bays, two three-light windows to the ground floor, and a plank door. The dormers are being altered to have top-lit, four-pane wooden casements. The use of ironstone rubble in the construction of No. 13 suggests it may be older than the rest of the range.
