Description

This thatched barn, located to the rear of Number 4 on Longcot Road in Shrivenham, dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with brick dressings and features a half-hipped thatched roof. The barn originally consists of five bays, with an additional one-bay extension to the south. The eastern facade includes three 20th-century doors and two light casement windows. A ladder provides access to the hay loft, which has a doorway that projects through the eaves, with the thatch extending over it. Inside, the original five bays are divided into two floors, supported by a single butt-purlin structure that holds up the thatch.
