Description
4 and 5 The Street are a pair of semi-detached houses built in 1894 in the Cotswold vernacular style by Sir Ernest George and Alfred Yeates for Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park, as noted on a date stone on the west front. The houses are constructed from coursed rubble stone with stone dressings and feature a gabled stone tiled roof with stone ridge stacks. They have an L-shaped plan and stand two storeys tall, with 2- and 4-light mullioned windows that have leaded glazing on the west front and above. A prominent 7-light mullioned window with the date stone in the central light serves both houses. The meticulously laid stone tiled roof, which projects on carved brackets, covers two Tudor-arched doorways to the north and south, creating porches.
