Description

The village well in Buscot was built around 1897 by architects Sir Ernest George and Alfred Yeates for Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park. It has a square plan and features four corner stone columns that support gables on each side, each topped with a stone tiled roof. The face of each gable includes open vertical timbers and a carved tie beam. At the apex of the roof, there is a shaped lead finial. Each column has a moulded impost and chamfer at the outer corner, with a seat cut into its thickness on the inside. The well has a modern top on the original wood standpipe.
