Description
16 and 18 Priory Road are two cottages dating from the 17th century, which were refaced in the early 18th century. They are constructed of Flemish bond brick, primarily featuring flared headers, with 17th century square timber-framing on the left side wall. The cottages have an old tile roof and a brick stack. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. There are segmental header arches above 20th century doors, two late 19th century casements, a mid-19th century three-light casement on the bottom left, and an 18th century three-light leaded casement on the top right. A segmental arch leads to a passage with 17th century beams on the left. The roof is gabled with a ridge stack, and there is a roughcast wing with a gabled 20th century tile roof at the rear. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
