Description
This building is a barn, now used as a store, located approximately 15 metres southwest of South Lawn in Appleton. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The structure features 20th-century weatherboarding over a timber frame set on a limestone plinth, with four square panels of timber framing between each truss. The roof is gabled and covered with old tiles. The barn has a five-bay plan with a central threshing floor and includes a gabled porch with a stone slate roof and 20th-century double doors.
Inside, there is a collar-truss roof supported by butt purlins and braced posts. To the left, there is a stable, now converted into a garage, made of uncoursed limestone rubble with a gabled thatch roof. The through-entry on the left is blocked at the front, and there are inserted garage doors at the rear. The stable also features a collar-truss roof with butt purlins.
