Description
59 East St Helen Street is an early 19th century building, possibly with an early 18th century core. It features a tile mansard roof and a brick dentil cornice, constructed from red and blue chequered brick. The building has two storeys and attics, with two oriel bays. One bay is canted, supported by a brick plinth and wood frame, and has three lights with double hung sashes and glazing bars, topped with a moulded wood cornice. The other bay has five sides, is roughly rendered, and contains one window with a moulded flush frame and a double hung sash with glazing bars. There is a band between the storeys, and the centre flat arched window on the first floor is blocked. On the ground floor, there are double hung sash windows with stone lintels under each bay. The entrance features a six panel door with a stone lintel, wood frieze, and cornice, along with a three light fanlight above and two steps leading up. The side of the building is roughly rendered. Nos. 43 to 61 (odd) form a group.
