Description
Nos. 28 to 32 Wallingford Street is a row of three cottages that have been converted into shops, offices, and a flat. These buildings date back to the 17th century and were originally timber-framed. The left section is constructed of 18th-century brick, painted white, while the center is made of 20th-century brick, and the right features mock timber-framing. The cottages have an old tiled roof with brick stacks. The original layout is unclear. They stand two stories tall with an attic and have a five-window range. There are four 20th-century doors and 20th-century casement windows on the ground and first floors, except for an 18th-century three-light casement window on the left. The buildings also feature late 19th-century gabled roof dormers. The roof is gabled with stacks at the gable end and one along the ridge. Inside, there are quartered chamfered and stopped beams on the right. These cottages are included in the listing for their group value.
