Description
The Carter Monument is a chest tomb located approximately 15 metres north of the junction of the nave and chancel of the Church of St Giles in Great Coxwell. It dates from around 1799 and is made of stone. The monument features a moulded base and fluted pilasters at each corner. The sides have moulded panels that include inscriptions on the north and south sides. The tomb is topped with a moulded lid. It commemorates Thomas Carter, his widow Sarah who died in 1799, and another individual whose name is illegible, who died in 1817.
