Description

Beaulieu Court Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse that was remodelled in the late 18th century and the mid-to-late 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of roughcast over limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, featuring a rubble plinth and a moulded string course. It has a hipped Welsh slate roof and a stone ridge stack rebuilt in the 20th century. The building has a cross-shaped plan and three storeys, with a three-window front.

A central three-story porch has a two-light round-headed stone window above a broken segmental pediment and a label mould above a four-centred moulded stone doorway. The doorway has an 18th-century panelled inner door with a dolphin knocker, set within a 17th-century chamfered stone architrave. The windows are mid-to-late 19th-century sashes, topped by a late 18th-century parapet.

A rear wing of one bay has an early 17th-century doorway with a segmental-arched chamfered stone architrave. A wing to the left was remodelled in the late 18th and 19th centuries, using similar materials. This wing is two storeys high with a three-window front, and contains 19th-century three-light Gothick casements to the left side wall and front gable end.

The interior features some stone-mullioned cavetto-moulded two-light round-headed windows that have been unblocked, representing part of the original symmetrical front. Other interior details include moulded stone fireplaces, 18th-century panelled doors, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A late 18th-century dog-leg staircase is also present. The first floor was not inspected but is likely to be of interest.
