Description
Nos. 51 to 55 on East St Helen Street are two houses with origins dating back to the 17th century. They feature a repaired tile roof with four hipped dormers, and No. 51 has a modern casement window. The roof oversails, and No. 51 has a moulded wood cornice. The houses have four windows, with No. 51 having modern wood frames for its three-light casements, while the other windows have modern leaded glazing. The left-hand window is larger. The upper storey projects and is rough-rendered. No. 53 has a modern stone ground floor that is cut back, with two three-light leaded casements and a modern door. No. 51 has a rough-cast ground floor with three pilasters—two flanking the door on the right and one on the left—that support a wood band. It features a modern door, one three-light modern casement, and one two-light sliding sash window. Nos. 43 to 61 form a group.
