Description
The Punch Bowl Public House is an early 17th-century timber-framed brick building located at 752 Market Place. The ground floor and plinth are rendered, and it features a tiled roof with three storeys and two gabled ends. Each gable has one window, and there are two flat-arched windows on the first floor with flush frames and no glazing bars, along with a brick label above. A brick band runs along the cills of the first-floor windows, and the building has brick rusticated quoins. The ground floor includes two 19th-century three-light windows with frosted glass, flanked by Doric pilasters that support a fascia and dentil cornice. The rear of the building has been altered, and the interior features paneling. The Punch Bowl Public House is part of a group with Nos. 5 to 9 and the County Hall.
