Description
No. 5 East St Helen Street is an early 19th-century building constructed from grey-blue brick with red dressings. It stands three storeys high and features a slate roof that overhangs on paired modillions. The building has red brick quoins and two windows with flat arches made of red brick, along with rusticated red brick sash windows that include glazing bars. A stucco band runs between the ground and first floor, with the area below the band rendered, as is the plinth. To the left, there is a four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. To the right, late 19th-century double shop windows are flanked by Doric pilasters and have modern glazing bars, with a central doorway also featuring Doric pilasters. The fascia board is supported by scroll consoles. Nos. 3 to 7 (odd) form a group with this building.
