Description

No. 5 Market Place is a building that possibly dates back to the 18th century but features a 19th-century front elevation. The exterior is stuccoed and the building stands three storeys tall. A parapet and modillion cornice conceal the roof. It has two flush framed flat arched windows with double hung sashes that include glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two late 19th-century canted oriel windows without glazing bars, topped with a moulded dentil cornice. The late 19th-century shop front includes two windows and a modern door. To the right, there is a six fielded door with a rectangular fanlight above it, and a fascia board supported by consoles. Nos. 5 to 9, along with the County Hall, form a group.
