Description
Weir Farmhouse and the attached small barn are located in East Hanney. The farmhouse likely dates from the early 17th century, with a front added in the mid-18th century and later alterations. It is constructed of red brick featuring flared headers in Flemish bond, topped with a 20th-century plain-tile roof. The building has a prominent stone-rubble ridge stack at the center and a brick lateral stack at the rear. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and has a four-window range. There is a plank door to the left of center and a panelled door in the middle, with irregularly placed casement windows and gabled dormers. The rear of the farmhouse has lined render, likely over timber-framing. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have chamfered spine beams on the ground floor. The small barn, attached at a right angle to the farmhouse on the right, is probably from the 18th century. It features a stone rubble plinth, weatherboarding likely over timber-framing, and a corrugated sheet metal roof. The barn has two bays.
