Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 20 metres east of Carswell Manor, dating from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with a square plan. The building is one storey high, with one bay on each wall. There is a timber lintel above a 17th-century studded door, a projecting stone band under the eaves, and a large 19th-century clock at the top. The roof is cross-gabled. At the rear, there are timber lintels over an early 20th-century four-panelled door and a two-light window. Inside, there are projecting stone perches for nesting boxes set into all walls. The 17th-century studded door with strap hinges leads to 19th-century dog-leg stairs that provide access to the rear of the clock.
