Description

Farmhouse. Built in the early 17th century. The farmhouse is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with limestone ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof. It features a limestone ashlar ridge stack and a rendered brick stack on the right side. The building is arranged in an L-shape. It has two storeys and an attic, with a 7-window front. The front entrance has a flat gauged brick arch over a 6-panelled door with an overlight. The windows include mid-20th century two-light cross windows with flat gauged brick arches, a late 17th century two-light cross window on the right side of the first floor, and two 2-light wood-mullioned windows on the right side of the front, one of which has blocked an old doorway. Gabled roof dormers have 2-light leaded casements. The roof has a hipped section to the left and a gabled section to the right, with two ridge stacks and a late 19th century gable end stack on the right. The early 17th century ridge stack to the left has four flues with moulded bases and caps. The left side wall has a 3-window range. This side includes two early 17th century four-light stone-mullioned and chamfered windows, one of which is blocked, and the other retaining original leaded lights. To the left of these are timber lintels over an early 18th century two-light casement and an early 18th century three-light wood-mullioned casement. A blocked original doorway with a chamfered and square-headed stone architrave sits to the left of the casement. The rear of the left side wing has a hipped roof adjoining a similar hipped two-storey wing with an 18th century two-light leaded casement.
