Description
No. 4 Carswell Marsh is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with stone stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, displaying a four-window range. There is a 20th-century stable door with a timber lintel above it, and to the right of the door are 18th-century three-light leaded casements with 20th-century timber lintels, while similar 20th-century casements are found to the left. The house has three asymmetrical cross gables on the front, with a gable end stack to the left and ridge stacks. The rear has been rebuilt in 20th-century brick and tile, but retains a 17th-century cross-gable on the rear left. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
