Description

The Trout Inn is a late 18th-century house, now a public house. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a stone slate roof and brick stacks, the latter dating to the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building follows a 3-unit outshut plan. It is two storeys high with a 4-window front. The windows have gauged flat brick arches and brick jambs; a 20th-century door is set within a mid-20th-century porch. Most windows are sash windows, although a 20th-century casement window is located on the left-hand side. The roof is gabled with two gable-end stacks and one ridge stack. A late 18th-century single-storey extension built from similar materials is located on the left side, and a mid-19th century two-storey gabled extension of limestone rubble with a Welsh slate roof extends to the rear left. The interior has not been inspected.
