Description

The Swan Monument is a chest tomb located approximately 20 metres south of the junction of the nave and chancel of the Church of St Giles in Great Coxwell. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of stone. The monument features a moulded plinth, fluted corner pilasters, moulded panels, and a moulded lid. It commemorates Thomas Swan, who died in 1778 (on the north side); an individual whose name is illegible, who died in 1765 (on the south side); John Swan, who died in 1768 (on the west end); and ihoms S Waters, who died in 1760 (on the east end).
