Description

Brook House is a farmhouse, later adapted for residential use, with a front dating to the 18th century, built upon a 17th-century structure. The lower portion of the front is constructed with a brick plinth and red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring flared headers. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, and there are brick ridge stacks centrally and to the left of centre. The building may have originally been a hall house. It is two storeys high with a four-window front. A six-panel, part-glazed door, sheltered by a flat hood supported on brackets, is positioned at the centre. To the left of the centre door, a part-glazed stable door is set within a cambered brick arch. Segmental-headed, three-light casement windows with cambered brick heads are present to the left of centre, to the right of centre, and to the right. A two-light, segmental-headed casement with a cambered brick head is located to the left, and a single-light casement is found to the left of centre. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors. Four three-light casement windows are present on the first floor. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves. Internally, open fireplaces are found on the ground floor, and much of the original timber framing is visible.
