Description

The farmhouse, now a house, was built around 1760. It is constructed of flared Flemish bond brick with red brick dressings to the front, and coursed limestone rubble to the other walls. The roof is covered in stone slate, with brick stacks. The building is arranged in a rough L-shape and has two storeys and a five-window front. A late 19th-century six-panelled door is set beneath a semi-circular arch, with a plain fanlight above. Segmental arches feature over six-panelled sash windows and a blind window. Dentilled eaves run along the top of the front elevation. The gabled roof has a gable end to the left and ridge stacks, finished with dog-tooth brickwork. A late 19th-century horned sash window sits above an earlier 18th-century sash window on the right gable. A two-storey, two-window range to the rear right has timber lintels over a six-panelled door with moulded brackets supporting a flat hood, and late 19th-century three-light casement windows. A similar brick gable stack is present. A late 19th-century two-storey, one-bay gabled extension to the rear contains flat brick arches over tripartite sash windows. Inside, the three-unit front range includes a late 19th-century straight-flight staircase, 18th-century two-panelled doors, and mostly plain late 19th-century two- and four-panelled doors. An eight-bay collar-truss roof is present, with butt and clasped purlins. The rear right portion of the building has a similar roof, with a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops on the ground floor.
