Description

This barn, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 15 meters north of Stable House in Charney Bassett. It features weatherboarding over a light timber frame, set on a plinth made of Flemish bond brick with flared headers, and is topped with a thatched roof. The barn has a three-bay plan with a central threshing floor and is accessed through plank double doors that have 18th-century strap hinges. The roof is half hipped, and there is a gabled porch at the rear with an old tile roof. Inside, the barn has a three-bay collar-truss roof supported by angle braces and staggered butt-purlins.
