Description

Hillside is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a late 19th-century tile roof and brick stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan, originally consisting of two units facing the front. It is two storeys high with a three-window front. A timber lintel sits above the central 20th-century front door, while the ground-floor windows are sash windows with brick jambs and segmental arches. The first-floor windows are sash windows set within the eaves. The roof is gabled, with gable-end stacks. There is a rear outshut to the right and a back kitchen to the left. The rear kitchen was originally a single storey, but was later extended with a late 19th-century brick first floor and a matching extension. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest. The property was formerly known as "The Horn" public house.
