Description

The Cottage on the Green is an 18th-century house located in Charney Bassett. It features coursed limestone rubble with brick half dormers and a thatched roof, topped with a stone stack finished in brick. The house has a two-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range. A segmental brick arch is present over a 20th-century door, while flat stone arches frame the 20th-century two-light casements on the ground floor. There are also 20th-century two-light casements in the half dormers. The gabled roof has a gable end stack on the left side. The same architectural details are found on the rear openings. An extension was added around 1972, which includes one bay to the right and two bays to the rear right, designed in a similar style. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
