Description
Matthew's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating back to 1633, as indicated by the datestone below the west stack. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a steeply pitched, gabled stone-tiled roof. It is two stories tall and has a two-window range with end brick stacks, the eastern stack resting on a stone base.
The windows were altered in the 19th century with the addition of modern casements and brick arches. A modern stone gabled porch with a stone-tiled roof leads to the original studded plank door, which is set in a plain chamfered door surround. At the rear, there are two one-storey gabled extensions, also with stone-tiled roofs.
Inside, there is an early 17th-century panelled screen to the west of the central passage and a stopped and chamfered beam in the southwest ground floor room.
