Description

71 and 73 Grove Street are a pair of cottages located in Wantage, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They feature square timber framing that has been largely restored in the 20th century, with 19th century brick infill and a 20th century tiled roof. The original four-unit plan has been remodeled in the 20th century. The cottages are two storeys high and have a seven-window range, with a jettied front. There are three 20th century doors and 20th century casement windows. The roof is gabled and has no stacks. Inside, No. 73, which is on the right, has chamfered ogee-stopped beams, a timber-framed first-floor partition, and a queen-post roof with clasped purlins. No. 71 was not inspected.
